Crochet Mittens

OK, Bea. Here's your pattern for the crocheted mitten. Super simple, super quick, & it totally fits my little hand model :)

Chain 11
Single Crochet in second chain from hook; SC (single crochet) across; you should have 10 stitches
Chain 1; turn
Next row & every row after: SC in Back Loops Only. This makes the cuff. Continue SC in Back Loops Only every row until you get about 5 1/2 inches
I slip stitched the cuff together; you can sew it if you want.

You're now going to work across the top of the cuff. SC 20 stitches around the top of the cuff. Do this for 2 rows

We're now going to add some stitches.
This is Row 3 of the mitten
SC 2 SC in next SC, SC in next SC, 2 SC in next SC, SC in next 7 SC, 2 SC in next SC, 1 SC in next SC, 2 SC in next SC, SC rest of stitches. You should now have 24 stitches

Row 4
SC in next 2 SC, 2 SC in next SC, 1 SC in next SC, 2 SC in next SC, 1 SC in next 9 SC, 2 SC in next SC, 1 SC in next SC, 2 SC in next SC, SC rest of stitches. You should now have 28 stitches

Now just SC around until you have 9 rows altogether.
Now we divide for the thumb. Just SC around on 20 SC, skip 8 SC, join. SC around until you have 17 rows altogether.
Now we begin shaping the top of the hand.
SC in next 2 SC, SC 2 together around. You should now have 15 SC
SC in Next SC, SC 2 together around. You should now have 10 SC
SC 2 together around. You should now have 5 SC
Sew top closed

Now we'll do the thumb. Add yarn to first skipped SC at thumb. SC around, adding 1 SC at end. You should now have 9 SC
Do six rows altogether for the thumb
Now we'll shape the top
SC in next sc, SC 2 together around. You should now have 6 SC
SC 2 together around. You should now have 3 SC
Sew top together

That's it. I'll be sending this up with you know who (if he goes out) so you'll have something to look at. Any questions; just ask.
